Let’s have a peek into the mansion of Bill Gates

Published

on

Bill Gates, one of the founders of the Microsoft Company with a capital of nearly 90 billion dollars, is one of the richest men in the United States.
So you should not be surprised that one of the richest men in the world lives in an extraordinary home. The house covers an area of over 6 thousand square meters – it is just huge and, of course, literally crammed with all sorts of high-tech innovations.

For construction were used more than 1000 cubic metres of timber – 500-year-old Californian fir. Over the house employed more than 300 workers, including 100 electricians.
Xanadu 2.0 is an ‘earth-sheltered’ house, meaning that it’s built into its surroundings to regulate temperature more efficiently.

The house contains 24 bathrooms. That is a lot of bathrooms. The home only has seven bedrooms—meaning there are more than three bathrooms per bedroom in the residence.
The 2,300-square-foot hall could seat up to 150 people for a dinner party, or 200 people standing up at a cocktail event. The mansion took seven years to build and cost 17 crore dollars which is around 1000 crores. The 2,100-square-foot library has a dome roof and two secret bookcases, including one that reveals a hidden bar.

A 6-foot-wide limestone fireplace dominates one wall, while another wall has a 22-foot-wide video screen. When a guest arrives, they are given a pin that interacts with sensors in each room in the house. Depending on their preferences, the temperature, music and lighting will change in the house. Each room comes with its own touchpad to control the room environment. All this is, of course, in line with current smart home trends—so it wouldn’t be a huge deal, except the Gateses had all this in 1995.

He reportedly became fond of a 40-year-old maple tree that grew close to the home’s driveway. It’s monitored by computer, and if at any point it becomes too dry, water is automatically pumped into it.

Let’s know the emergence of India’s pride the Howrah Bridge

The Howrah Bridge is located between the twin cities of Howrah and Kolkata in West Bengal, India.
The construction of the Howrah Bridge, initially named as Rabindra Sethu Bridge, was first proposed in 1862. The Government of Bengal wanted to build a bridge over the Hooghly River. They asked the Chief Engineer of the East India Railway Company to study the feasibility of the idea and come up with a proposal. But for several reasons, his proposal never materialized.

Later in the 1800s, a pontoon bridge or floating bridge was built between Howrah and Kolkata. But it wasn’t strong enough to handle the huge traffic between the two cities or to weather the frequent storms in the area. So the Bengal government continued to look for alternatives and, several decades later, the new bridge was finally commissioned. The contract to build it was awarded to a company called The Braithwaite Burn and Jessop Construction Company.

Constructed without nuts and bolts, the Howrah Bridge was formed by riveting the entire steel structure. The bridge officially opened in 1943 when it was the world’s third longest cantilever bridge. Today, it is the sixth longest bridge of its type in the world.

The Howrah Bridge is also thought to be the world’s busiest cantilever bridge. It handles about 100,000 vehicles and more than 150,000 pedestrians every day. While the bridge remains one of the key attractions in the city, the Howrah Junction Railway Station at its Howrah end is another site of much historical significance as the country’s oldest railway station. At the Kolkata end, the bridge ends right by the stunning and colourful Mallick Ghat flower market, one of the city’s most vibrant markets.

Stay safe in your new apartment

Before deciding to move a new apartment, it is important to consider security. Follow these guidelines before signing a lease to help protect yourself and your family.

1. Understand the neighbors and locality
When you think you’ve found your dream apartment, check local crime data in its vicinity. Make sure you know about any troubling activities in the area before committing to a lease. Talk to the local police and your future landlord and neighbors to get an honest picture of what life will be like in your new place.

2. Test the lighting
Robbers and intruders prefer to sneak around in poorly-lit or dark areas. Therefore, when considering an apartment, check the entrances, hallways, walkways, parking areas, elevators, stairways, mail areas, and laundry rooms to make sure they have enough lighting at night. If not, talk to your landlord about getting more lights installed or consider installing your own motion sensor lights around the entrances of your unit. The fewer places an offender has to hide, the safer you’ll be.

3. Note the fire escapes
In apartment complexes, exterior fire escapes can be lifesavers during an emergency, but their access to windows and balconies can also attract burglars. If your apartment has a fire escape, make sure it is stored properly off the ground, so intruders can’t reach your apartment.

4. Try the Peephole
A peephole can keep you and your family safe by allowing you to see who’s at your door before you open it. If your door does not have a peephole, inquire about having one installed before you move in. When a questionable character is at your door, a peephole will help you and your children avoid any compromising situations. Installing a smart doorbell camera is another option, depending on the type of apartment complex you live in. Smart doorbells allow you to see who is visiting your apartment through your smartphone, so you don’t even need to get up if you discover it’s a solicitor.

5. General observation
Take in the general look and feel of your new place. Broken windows, cracked drywall, or water stains could show a lack of concern from the landlord. Check to see if the lawn and landscaping are well-kept. If the landlord can’t take care of basic maintenance, he or she probably isn’t concerned with general security

Bollywood star Akshay Kumar and his wife Twinkle Khanna owns a luxurious sea shore home which overlooks Arabian Sea at Mumbai. This is the description about a dream house, but a reality for Akshay and Twinkle who live there with their lovely children and their pet dog.

From the planning to the architecture, everything has been done by Twinkle, who believes in decorating her home with things that have beautiful stories. The ground floor of their organic duplex has Akshay Kumar’s walk-in closet, a kitchen and a home theater. Close to the living room is the dining area, which provides just the perfect setting for the family to share their meals. It overlooks their orchard through a glass wall.

Twinkle Khanna has done amazing experiments with decors that might not be conventionally appealing. The giant skull candle adds an element of quirk—much like Khanna’s personal aesthetic. Art is another feature that fills Khanna’s home. Art by her mother and son also feature throughout the home. Along with them hang powerful feminist paintings from artists like Rekha Rodwittiya and Shipra Bhattacharya. Various European and South Indian silver sculptures grace this floor.
